The history of Vilamoura goes back to the times of the Roman Empire when Vilamoura used to be a fishermen Roman town. Nowadays, tourists can find the ruins of the Roman bathrooms. There is a museum called Cerro Da Vila that shows all the Roman objects found until now.
For those who prefer a more relaxed style of holiday, Vilamoura has many restaurants that are located along its trendy marina and throughout the complex. If you happen to walk in the marina you will find the world biggest Marlin ever caught.
